Canada’s Québec Parmentier acquires large-scale seed potato producer

Canadian potato company Québec Parmentier announced the acquisition of Ferme G. G. & A. Montminy, a renowned and large-scale seed potato producer located in the Péribonka region of Quebec. Being located in a ‘Protected Cultivation Zone’ gives it an undeniable advantage in terms of the quality of the seed potatoes produced.

Pierre Chouinard, Chief Executive Officer of Québec Parmentier says the announcement marks a turning point in the history of Québec Parmentier.

“This transaction makes it possible, through our subsidiary SEQ Marketing, to meet the growing demand of our customers in terms of volume, quality, and varieties of seed potatoes; thereby strengthening our position as a leader in the seed potato industry in Canada.”

According to Kevin Rivard, President of Québec Parmentier, the company welcomes the employees of Ferme G. G. & A. Montminy. “We are convinced that their experience, their know-how, and their commitment to success will be highly valued within our organization,” he says. “The importance of having a healthy seed production industry is essential to sustaining the production of table potatoes.”

Rivard notes that the seed potato industry is constantly changing, and this acquisition allows Québec Parmentier to continue serving its customers and meet their needs.
