Beauty queen for service crew? Potato Corner addresses concerns over controversial job listing

Snack brand Potato Corner, known for its flavored french fries and a favorite among many Filipinos, recently faced backlash online due to a controversial job posting. The posting, which circulated on social media, listed requirements for a service crew position that many netizens deemed excessive, as Jhen G. Lim reports for Philippine News.

Notably, the criteria focused heavily on physical appearance, leading some to joke that the company was seeking a beauty queen or even the next Miss Universe. The requirements included having a “good visual impact and pleasing personality, weight proportionate to height, clear complexion, good eyesight, and a set of teeth.”

The backlash prompted a flurry of memes and humorous posts on social media. In response to the controversy, Potato Corner released a statement clarifying that the job posting originated from a branch that has not yet opened. The company emphasized its commitment to diversity and inclusivity and denounced discriminatory hiring practices. They expressed regret over the oversight and assured that measures are being taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
