Researchers, potato specialists and postgraduate students are now being invited to register for the Meeting of the joint EAPR sections Agronomy & Physiology and Post Harvest 2026, scheduled for June 16 – 19, 2026, in Warsaw, Poland. The event is officially listed by both IHAR and the European Association for Potato Research (EAPR), and will focus on the cultivated potato, Solanum tuberosum L., across a wide range of themes from agronomy and physiology to storage and processing.
Registration and abstract deadlines now confirmed
According to information shared with Potato News Today by Prof. Jadwiga Śliwka, registration and abstract submission are now open. Because of a delay in opening registration, the new early bird registration deadline has been set for March 16, 2026. The abstract submission deadline and the deadline for regular registration are both set for April 7, 2026. The official IHAR conference page confirms that registration is open, while Prof. Śliwka’s update provides the revised timeline now being communicated by the organizers.
Venue in the heart of Warsaw
The meeting will be held at Hotel Gromada Warsaw Center, a centrally located venue in Warsaw, close to the city’s historic core and major transport connections. Organizers say the location is intended to make the event easily accessible for both international and domestic participants.
Focus on cutting-edge potato science
The 2026 joint meeting is expected to cover a broad spectrum of potato research and practical issues. According to the official conference description, the program will include agronomy, precision agriculture, biochemistry, physiology, postharvest assessment, potato storage, and potato processing. EAPR also says the event will provide a forum for international exchange through lectures, research papers, posters, and a planned field trip.
Fee waivers available for PhD students
EAPR will offer fee waivers to eight PhD students. To qualify, applicants must submit an abstract through the official submission system by March 16, 2026, and send an email application to eapr2026@ihar.edu.pl by the same date, including a short CV and proof of PhD student status.
Successful applicants will be selected by the Scientific Committee on the basis of scientific excellence and will be asked to provide a short report after the conference. This student support opportunity is also highlighted in the organizers’ latest communication.
Why this meeting matters
The Warsaw meeting reflects the increasingly connected nature of potato science and industry needs. By bringing together expertise in agronomy, physiology and postharvest management, the event is positioned to address both field-level production challenges and the downstream issues that affect quality, storage performance and processing outcomes.
For the potato sector, that makes it a meeting with relevance well beyond academic circles.
