Pakistan: Export of potatoes picking up

The former chairman and spokesman of All Pakistan Fruit & Vegetable Exporters, Importers and Merchant Association (PFVA) said on Monday that the possibility of export of potatoes to Russia during current week looks good. Sharing good news, he stated that due to an increased demand of Pakistani potato in Gulf, Sri Lanka, Far-East, the export of potato had now reached 65,000 tons and out of a total production of 50 million tonnes, an additional three million tonnes are expected to be exported. There is a chance of a withdrawal of an import ban by the Russian Quarantine Service and it is strongly anticipated that the export of potatoes to Russia would commence in the current week, he further added.
