A high quantity of potato export to Pakistan from India has not only raised domestic prices of the commodity, but has also prompted the Pakistan government to temporarily roll-back zero import duty on the commodity. Potato prices were Rs 1,415 per quintal in Agra a month ago which went up to Rs 1,670 today while in Kolkata it went up from Rs 1,400 a month ago to Rs 1,600. It is for the first time that India has seen a significant export of potatoes to Pakistan, which has been facing an acute shortage of the commodity beginning March this year.
