Australian potato growers urged to rethink export opportunities

Australia’s potato industry has been challenged to change its thinking when it comes to exporting. Speaking at the 2014 Potato Industry Conference, held in Mount Gambier, South Australia, on Monday, Department of Agriculture market co-ordination and strategy Andre Mayne urged the industry not to see exporting just as a home for surplus produce. Instead, he urged the sector to be targeted in its exporting and to produce products for specific markets.
