Canada: CFIA suspects tampering in potato contamination

A possible food tampering incident involving metal has prompted the withdrawal of potatoes from Linkletter Farms, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). As tampering is a criminal offence, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police is leading the investigation with the CFIA supporting. CFIA said it is advising consumers of the situation involving potatoes harvested and packed by the firm of Summerside, Prince Edward Island. Linkletter Farms is withdrawing certain products following a consumer complaint in which a metal object appears to have been inserted into a potato.
