India: Fifty percent input subsidy announced for potato farmers in Odisha

In a bid to increase potato production in Odisha to attain self-sufficiency, the Government has decided to provide 50 per cent input subsidy to farmers. The subsidy will be limited to `40,000 per hectare and a farmer will be eligible for subsidy for maximum two hectares of land. The potato incentivisation programme was decided as per recommendation of the task force constituted by the Government to find a solution to recurring potato crisis in the State.
