Ministry of Agriculture promotes potato campaignThe third most important food crop in the world is celebrating its very well deserved 10th annual holiday in Peru on May 30. The crop, according to the International Potato Center (CIP) has a global total crop production that currently exceeds 374 million metric tons. To promote the values and flavors of the humble crop, the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (Minagri) is promoting a campaign with a series of activities leading up to the holiday and for the potato season until July, according to El Comercio. For example the Ministry made a presentation of over 20 unique, native potatoes and traditional tuber products such as the “Puka Sonco”, “Leona”, and “Violeta” and products such as a “Papa Sour.” More
