Canada: $1 million coming to protect Prince Edward Island potato farmers

The vulnerability of Prince Edward Island’s largest agricultural crop will get some much-needed protection with the announcement of nearly $1 million in a federal safety package Monday, The Guardian has learned. The money will be announced during a news conference at the P.E.I. Potato Board at 11 a.m. It is expected to be used for “food safety screening” for processed potatoes.
