The Potato Growers Association of Western Australia has confirmed it will appeal to the State Government to push through deregulation of the potato industry as soon as possible. Farmers have urged their association representatives to act now before it is too late. Chief executive Ross Taylor said it had been a unanimous decision by the industry to push for deregulation to happen before the 2017 time frame touted by Premier Colin Barnett. “There is a compelling case to actually bring that deregulation process that the Premier has announced, to bring that forward,” he said in relation to a number of reviews conducted by industry in recent weeks.
