UK: Potato marketer launches new processing division

Potato grower and marketer AKP Group has launched a new division to develop and expand its processing potatoes business. Named the Pride of Anglia Growers, it is a new division of East Anglia potato grower and marketer AKP Group. The new unit will have teams that cover agronomy, QC, storage, grading, haulage, sales and marketing support. The new division, which is funded by the Rural Development Programme for England, will be formally unveiled at the upcoming Cereals event, on 15-16 June. The AKP Group focuses on the East Anglia region and supplies processing potatoes to the UK and overseas markets. It is structured around a model based on “strength in numbers” to mitigate the risks of the individual, the company said.
