India: Glut forces Deesa farmers to bury potatoes

Last year, the unprecedented glut in potato production had forced the farmers to dump their produce in tonnes on the roads of Palanpur and Deesa. The situation this year is no different. Angered over throwaway prices for potatoes, farmers in Gujarat’s potato bowl Deesa have started giving a burial to the vegetables.
