According to the latest Potato Weekly report, published by AHDB, there have been increasing reports of interest in Scottish packing supplies from English buyers, which has been expected given the increase in Scottish production in 2016 compared to tighter supplies in England. Free-buy prices have reflected this dynamic this season, as Scottish packing prices for grade 1 whites have been, on average, over £50/t below English values for the past four weeks. Contracted stocks continued to account for most movement within the English packing market.
