Potato Science Live events to give British growers insight into future technologies

This season’s extended series of Syngenta Potato Science Live events are set to give British growers and agronomists an exciting insight into some of the future technologies designed to enhance the efficiency and profitability of potato crop production.

The format of these popular events provides a chance to quiz specialists in new industry agronomy and technology, covering a range of topics from planting through to harvest and storage.

Syngenta Potato Technical Manager, Michael Tait, believes the adoption of new technologies and science discoveries could provide significant advances in the way crops are grown in the future.

“Last season posed some significant challenges for growers – from the late start to planting, through periods of intense heat and moisture stress, with variable yields at harvest,” he reported.

“There are new innovations in blight monitoring, spray application and desiccation management that can help focus on reducing that variability and producing consistent high yields of quality tubers.”

With a range of speakers and specialists from across the industry, Potato Science Live will provide a first look at a range of new agronomy opportunities, along with some ideas and practical measures that can be readily implemented this season.

The nationwide events will be held in February. Go here to view the schedule.
