On 27 February, the European Commission and the UK Government reached a political agreement in principle on the so-called Windsor Framework. This constitutes a comprehensive set of joint solutions aimed at addressing the practical challenges identified in the implementation of the Protocol on Ireland / Northern Ireland, according to information published by Europatat in it latest Insights newsletter.
According to Europatat, the new framework includes special provisions which foresee the resumption of trade in seed potatoes between Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Such provisions are described in the draft Regulation tabled by the European Commission.
Europatat says it welcomes this positive development and “we hope for a swift implementation of the new Framework”.
