Potato Storage Insight announces 2024 Store Managers Course with early bird discounts

Potato Storage Insight (PSI) is excited to announce the commencement of its annual Potato Store Managers’ Course for 2024. The course, a staple in the industry for nearly three decades, most recently as part of the PSI offer since 2022, is now open for bookings with an attractive early bird discount available until January 12th.

This year’s course, scheduled for February 28th and 29th, will be held at The Crown Hotel in Boroughbridge. Adrian Cunnington, a renowned figure in potato storage management, will lead the course alongside Glyn Harper, an experienced trainer since 2010. The course is designed to cater to both new trainees and seasoned professionals in the field.

The 2024 course is particularly noteworthy as it introduces, for the first time, the option to obtain the BASIS (Stored Potatoes) qualification. This addition enhances the course’s appeal, especially for those specializing in potato storage without broader agronomy training.

The two-day course adopts a relaxed residential format, emphasizing discussion-based learning and practical, interactive sessions. This approach ensures maximum engagement and effective knowledge transfer regarding storage management protocols. Topics covered include risk and cost management, disease threat management, sprout control, and ventilation principles – all crucial for effective potato storage.

An informal dinner and bar discussions are included, providing a unique opportunity for delegates to network and share experiences. The course concludes with an optional BASIS examination in late March, allowing participants to gain a widely-recognized qualification.

Early bird pricing offers a discount until January 12th. For more information or to book your spot, interested individuals can contact Adrian Cunnington directly on 07970 072260 or email him at

This course represents a significant opportunity for those in the potato storage industry to enhance their skills, stay abreast of the latest practices, and potentially earn a prestigious qualification. Download a copy of the course particulars here.
