Europatat Congress 2024: Shaping the future of the potato industry in Brussels

The prestigious Europatat Congress is set to make a grand return to Brussels on the 23rd and 24th of May, 2024, marking a significant event for potato industry professionals across Europe and beyond. This annual gathering, renowned for its insightful discussions and networking opportunities, is a not-to-be-missed event for those involved in the potato sector.

Europatat, the European Potato Trade Association, has been instrumental in organizing this congress biennially in Brussels, the epicenter of the European Union. The 2024 edition, themed “European Potato Trade in 2030: a sector in transition,” promises to delve into the critical environmental, economic, and social challenges facing the potato industry. It will also explore the myriad of solutions and opportunities that emerging tools and techniques offer to the sector.

The congress will kick off on Thursday, 23rd May, with Europatat members reviewing the association’s various activities across its five commissions. These include consumption potatoes, seed potatoes, sustainability, technical and regulatory issues, and RUCIP.

The following day, Friday, 24th May, will witness the Europatat General Assembly in the morning, succeeded by a public conference. This event is particularly timely, occurring on the eve of the European elections, providing a unique platform for participants to engage with European legislators, politicians, and sector colleagues about the industry’s transition into the new decade.

In addition to the professional agenda, the Congress will host several social events to bolster networking within the European potato community. These include a welcome cocktail on Wednesday, 22nd May, the traditional Europatat’s Gala Dinner on Thursday, 23rd May, and farewell drinks on Friday, 24th May.

Potato industry professionals are encouraged to visit the official congress website at for more details on the program and to avail of special hotel rates offered to Congress participants. Registration for the Congress will open shortly, and attendees are advised to mark their calendars to ensure they don’t miss this pivotal event in the potato industry calendar.

Potato News Today is excited to cover this event and will provide updates and insights as they become available. Stay tuned for more information and prepare to be a part of a congress that promises to shape the future of the potato industry.
