UK: Fall in potato sales sparks calls for consumption change

A change in the way potatoes are consumed may be needed with changing retail trends hitting demand. UK potato prices are little more than half of the price they were last year, with the GB potato weekly average price for the week on June 6 falling to £160.20/tonne compared with £280.33/t last year. The Potato Council said supply is currently outweighing demand, with good UK production contrasting with falling sales.
