Canada: Halifax police investigate discovery of nail inside a potato

Halifax Police are investigating a possible case of food tampering after a nail was found in a potato sold at a grocery store. Police said at 3 p.m. Wednesday the manager of  the Bedford Superstore called them to report a customer had discovered a nail in a potato from a five-pound bag of Farmer’s Market red potatoes. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident. This is the latest in a series of incidents where potatoes sold at stores around the Maritimes have been found to contain metal objects, either nails or needles. More
