An Irish farmer who sells his potatoes from a vending machine has hit out at supermarkets. The Co Louth farmer has claimed stores are making more than 50% profits by selling potatoes. Gerry Finnegan has set up the 24-hour vending machine in the Termonfeckin area of the county, the Irish Mail reports.
He said: “It had to come because we can’t afford to be giving our potatoes to the supermarkets who are making an over 50% profit margin on them. “I’m a spud grower and I’m aiming to sell my own spuds as much as I can.”
