In a recent report published on the online Dutch ag magazine Akkerwijzer, it is said that well known seed potato company HZPC will cooperate with internet based trading company Potato Auction in the field of online trading in ware potatoes. Both parties have announced this agreement during the annual Delphy’s Potato Day in the Netherlands.
The potato trading community is looking for an online model to market its potatoes, according to Jan-Anco van Wijk, founder of Potato Auction. “The young generation sees the world via mobiles, and wants to arrange everything via cell phones,” he said.
Van Wijk says he is pleased that HZPC is willing to join his company. “This is a big step forward for us,” he said.
The cooperation is reportedly the first step on the road to e-commerce for HZPC, according to spokesman Remko Bos. “The public is changing, becoming more digital. That is why we want to gain more experience with this new branch of the industry.”
Bos particularly praises the transparency in the trade offered by the online platform on Potato Auction. “It is a faster and more effective way to trade.”
