Can you use an easy and accurate method for tracking potato loads and weights by date, field, variety, temperature, and cellar? According to Bill Menkveld at Ontario, Canada-based Greentronics, the company offers a solution.
Greentronics recently added several new features to its well-known RiteWeight in-line conveyor scale product. These enhanced features were developed to assist potato growers with an easy process to automate their harvest and storage data recording.
“Data are uploaded via an android phone or tablet to the Greentronics cloud server for processing and reporting in near real-time,” Bill explains. “Maps and reports can be viewed, downloaded, and shared or printed from virtually anywhere via secure log-in. A range of reports detail how much crop is stored and where it was grown. Reports also show inventory levels at any given time.”
The Greentronics RiteWeight system accurately generates 2D Maps that show clearly where exactly the crop is stored – and this data is then displayed in furter detail according to date, field, and variety. A crop temperature sensor was included with the scale as part of the new enhanced RiteWeight system, and maps will now also provide growers and operators with an accurate temperature profile for each cellar.
“The detailed maps generated by RiteWeight will no doubt assist growers to easily complete traceability reports,” Bill points out. “Growers can monitor harvest and storage progress from virtually anywhere.”
Other scales and yield monitors may be added to provide further details about performance in the field, as well as trash percentage.
