Bosch BASF Smart Farming, in collaboration with AGCO Corporation, announced plans to integrate and commercialize Smart Spraying technology on Fendt Rogator sprayers. The partnership will also develop new features.
The Smart Spraying Solution, trialed since May 2021, optimizes herbicide use without compromising weed control and allows targeted spraying in all light conditions. The system also provides digital tools to convert application data into actionable insights, enhancing farmers’ yields and efficiency.
The technology achieves herbicide savings through advanced sensoring, automated sensitivity thresholds, Bosch BASF’s weed identification technology, and Fendt Rogator’s application platform. The system will be available in the Americas and Europe from 2024.
Farmers will receive customized agronomic advice and reliable documentation within the solution. The weed management system will provide a comprehensive user experience through AGCO’s controls and Bosch BASF’s digital platform from xarvio® Digital Farming Solutions. The system currently supports crops like corn, soy, cotton, canola, sunflower, and sugar beet, with more crops to be added over time.
Matt Leininger of Bosch BASF Smart Farming emphasized the system’s uniqueness, combining precision, digital tools, and agronomic expertise to support farmers with less environmental impact and higher yields.
Seth Crawford of AGCO highlighted the progress made in developing a sustainable solution that maintains productivity while improving profitability. The collaboration aims to deliver clean fields with maximum savings and extend this solution to farmers and custom applicators globally.
