In a significant stride towards sustainable agriculture, Aachen-based firm crop.zone, renowned for its herbicide-free desiccation and plant control solutions, has clinched the coveted DLG-Agrifuture prize in collaboration with agricultural equipment giant John Deere. They were awarded for the groundbreaking Dual.Volt.24M system for herbicide-free plant desiccation.
The Dual.Volt.24M, boasting a remarkable working width of 24 meters, is a testament to novel electric, systemic, and herbicide-free plant management. The system’s innovative technology and commitment to eco-friendly agricultural solutions had previously earned it a nomination for the award.
The official award ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday 14 November between 12 to 1 p.m. at the DLG stand, Hall 24 Stand A06, during the AGRITECHNICA event in Hanover.
Optimized solutions for herbicide-free desiccation
Dirk Vandenhirtz, CEO of crop.zone, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “In our partnership with John Deere, a frontrunner in agricultural machinery, we’ve managed to double the working width. This enhancement ensures quicker and more accurate crop management.”
He emphasized the company’s dedication to providing farmers with optimized solutions for herbicide-free desiccation.
Christian Kohler, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of Crop.zone, highlighted the significance of the Agrifuture award.
“This award is not just a recognition but a motivation for us to continuously evolve our systems in collaboration with our customers and partners. It solidifies our dominant position in Europe’s electric crop management domain,” Kohler remarked.
A standout feature of the Dual.Volt.24M is its state-of-the-art applicators, designed for full-surface application. These are complemented by a camera-controlled row application system, ensuring comprehensive, electric, and herbicide-free plant care across its 24-meter span without any soil disruption. Additionally, the system incorporates a fully integrated sprayer, enabling precise area-specific application and sustainable combination treatments.
The unveiling of the Dual.Volt.24M, coupled with its nomination and subsequent victory, underscores crop.zone and John Deere’s unwavering commitment to pioneering a greener Agtech sector.
As part of its ongoing initiatives, crop.zone has announced plans to commence active pilot series testing with professional farmers in 2024.
