From potatoes to fabric: Fibe seeks Head of Agriculture to transform potato waste into textile gold

Fibe, a trailblazing startup dedicated to transforming agricultural waste, specifically potato stems and leaves, into sustainable eco-friendly fibres, has announced an exciting opportunity to join its team as Head of Agriculture. This new position marks a pivotal step in Fibe’s mission to redefine the fashion and agricultural industries by introducing affordable, scalable, and sustainable fibre alternatives made from common agricultural crops.

A Bold Mission with Potato Waste at Its Core

Fibe has already made waves with its groundbreaking innovation: the world’s first textile fibre created from potato harvest waste. Building on its recent successful investment round, led by Patagonia’s Corporate VC, Tin Shed Ventures, the company is advancing its goal of reshaping the centuries-old textile industry through sustainable practices.

“We’re challenging conventional methods to set a new standard in sustainability,” said Fibe’s leadership team. “With our revolutionary approach, we’re demonstrating how agricultural byproducts—once considered waste—can power a new wave of environmentally responsible textiles.”

Key Achievements Paving the Way

The Head of Agriculture will play a crucial role in scaling Fibe’s agricultural operations, which have already seen significant progress. Among its recent milestones, Fibe has:

  • Partnered with NIAB to identify potato crops best suited for textile production.
  • Developed and tested a cutting-edge potato stem harvester in collaboration with GRIMME.
  • Proven its ability to store feedstock for large-scale use.
  • Established strong industry connections and built a network of growers enthusiastic about the profitability and sustainability benefits of working with Fibe.

Looking ahead, Fibe aims to expand its operations from handling 45 tonnes of potato stems in 2025 to an ambitious 300,000 tonnes annually by 2030.

Empowering a Sustainable Workforce

At Fibe, collaboration and employee empowerment are key to success. The company prides itself on fostering a culture of interdisciplinary teamwork, strategic risk-taking, and a shared commitment to true sustainability—achieving both price and performance parity with unsustainable options.

“Joining Fibe is more than a career move; it’s a chance to be part of a family reshaping the way industries think about sustainability,” said the company. “We value every voice and are committed to creating impactful, autonomous opportunities for our team members.”

Note to Readers

Fibe management is thrilled to announce their participation in Potato Expo 2025 in Orlando in January, marking their debut at this global potato industry event. The team is eager to connect with industry professionals and showcase their groundbreaking sustainable textile innovations.

Following the Expo, Fibe will embark on a North American tour, visiting brands and investors in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York from Monday, January 13th, 2025. If you or your organization are interested in meeting with Fibe during their journey, they would love to connect. Don’t miss this opportunity to engage with a company reshaping the intersection of agriculture and textiles!
