Haith and its U.S. agent, Fox Solutions, will be putting the spotlight on packhouse innovations and box filling at next month’s Potato Expo event (Jan 9-10, Orlando, Florida).
The UK’s leading vegetable handling equipment manufacturer will promote its latest box handling range, which includes the QuantaFill box filler and Quanta-Tip automatic electric rotary box tippler. Haith will also be showcasing its recent ‘Factory of the Future’ installation for one of North America’s leading potato packhouses, which featured Newtec optical sorters and weighers, which Fox also represents.
QuantaFill: Addressing Growing Box Storage Trends in North America
Rob Highfield, Haith’s sales manager, says the company has “Recognised a trend in North America where customers who have traditionally bulk stored potatoes are moving to a box system as they look to supply the latest potato packhouses which receive crop in boxes to maintain crop quality and yield. This is where the QuantaFill is a perfect fit for large-scale growers operating self-propelled harvesters as they need to fill boxes back at the store at rates of 50 tons per hour or more.”
The additional box-handling functionality offered by the QuantaFill allows the operator to place stacks of empty boxes into the machine. The boxes are then automatically de-stacked and transported to the filling module. After being filled, the boxes are re-stacked for the operator to remove from the line in pairs, drastically reducing forklift movements.
Root-Veg Polisher and Global Success
As well as the QuantaFill, Haith will be promoting one of its most popular products – the patented Root-Veg Polisher. Now in its fourth generation, Haith’s Root Veg Polisher offers a wide range of brush options and easy maintenance.
“We have sold more than 600 Root-Veg Polishers to customers around the world, which we think makes the machine the market leader in its field,” says Rob.
Visitors to booth 207 will also be able to learn about the latest Newtec multi-drop sorter and Celox optical sorter, which Haith has integrated into over 100 projects, including The Little Potato Company’s ‘Factory of the Future’ in 2024.
Meeting Industry Challenges and Increasing Interest
“In the twelve months since we were last at Potato Expo, interest in our QuantaFill and complete line solutions has increased dramatically,” adds Rob. “It appears that potato growers and packers on both sides of the Atlantic are facing similar issues in terms of labour shortages and need to do more with less to operate more efficiently. This is where Haith and our US partner, Fox Solutions, come in.
