Rabobank experts set to highlight key potato market trends at Potato Expo 2025 in Orlando

Rabobank, a global leader in food and agribusiness financial services, is gearing up to participate in the highly anticipated Potato Expo 2025, taking place January 9-10 at the Orlando World Center Marriott. The Rabobank team invites attendees to visit their Rabo AgriFinance booth (#712) to gain insights into pressing issues shaping the potato industry.

David Magana

Two of Rabobank’s prominent analysts, Stephen Nicholson, Global Sector Strategist for Grains & Oilseeds, and David Magana, Senior Analyst for North American fresh fruit and vegetable industries, will be available to discuss the latest economic trends and forecasts for the potato market.

Topics will include the economic outlook for 2025, expectations for potato pricing, implications of the Farm Bill, and the challenges and opportunities arising under a new US administration. Attendees are encouraged to schedule time with the experts in advance due to the high demand during the event.

Rabobank will also have Melanie Bernds, Vice President and Head of Public Relations, on-site to facilitate connections with the experts.

Potato Production Insights: Lower Yields for 2024

At the forefront of the discussion will be the updated production forecasts for the US and Canada. According to North America Potato Market News (NAPMN), US potato production for 2024 is projected at 422 million cwt, a 4% decrease year-over-year and nearly 7 million cwt lower than the September 2024 estimate. Lower average yields in key production states have contributed to this adjustment.

Canada’s 2024 potato crop forecast is also down, with an estimated 126 million cwt, representing a 2.2% decline from the record-breaking harvest of 2023. These figures underscore the challenges facing the industry as it navigates shifting market dynamics.

Stephen Nicholson

Don’t Miss Stephen Nicholson at the Potato Business Summit

As part of the event, Stephen Nicholson will share his expertise at the Potato Business Summit on Thursday, January 9, from 8:00 AM to 8:45 AM in the Sabal Room at the Orlando World Center Marriott.

Following his presentation, attendees will have an opportunity to engage with him directly to explore the nuances of his outlook for the potato industry.

Plan Ahead for an Insightful Experience

Rabobank’s participation in Potato Expo 2025 promises to deliver valuable insights to producers, processors, and other stakeholders in the potato industry. Whether through a scheduled meeting at the Rabo AgriFinance booth or attending Nicholson’s presentation, attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the global forces shaping the future of potato markets.
