US: Potato marketing business updates

Associated Potato Growers Inc., Grand Forks, N.D., has a new salesman.
Tim Johnstone, formerly of Eagle Eye Produce, was hired as a salesman in December. The Idaho Potato Commission is in the middle of its annual Potato Lover’s Month display contest, which runs through March 11. Raleigh, N.C.-based L&M, will add Indiana-grown potatoes to its local offerings this August, said Lee Anne Oxford, director of marketing. Market Fresh Produce LLC, Nixa, Mo., has a new three-pack baker potato tray as part of its pre-packed vegetable line. MountainKing Potatoes, Houston, started a Who’s Your Craw Daddy? promotion for the spring crawfish season. Potandon Produce LLC has partnered with its retailers to support the Idaho Potato Commission’s Potato Lover’s Month promotion again this year. The U.S. Potato Board’s Salad Bar Challenge is growing, said Schylar Denton, assistant marketing manager of the Denver-based board. Wada Farms is growing its organic potato program, said Kevin Stanger, senior vice president for Wada Farms Marketing Group, Idaho Falls, Idaho.
