Price of Spanish potatoes 35% lower than last year

According to a report published by FreshPlaza, the expansion of the acreage devoted to potato cultivation and the consequent increase in the production, especially in France, has put more pressure on the marketing of Spanish potatoes, whose price remains unchanged at 15 cents per kilo, according to the Council of Agriculture of La Rioja.

There were no changes either in the Lonja de León and prices ranged between the 70 Euro of the Red Scarlett and Yona and 160 Euro per ton of the Agria, Kennebec and Red Pontiac varieties.

However, if the price of potatoes is compared with that recorded in the same week last year, there is a 34.78% drop. The price of Agria potatoes then amounted to 23 cents per kilo.

Regarding the national average price, according to the Weekly Report of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food for week 44 (October 28 to November 3), the price of potatoes shows a falling trend once again (-3.69 %).
