At this year’s Agritechnica event, Bayer has affirmed its dedication to digital farming innovations crucial for regenerative agriculture’s evolution. The life sciences giant showcases an array of cutting-edge solutions at the world-renowned agricultural machinery exhibition.
Throughout the event, Bayer experts and guest speakers illuminate the firm’s digital strategies, including upcoming product launches that promise to bolster agricultural sustainability.
Frank Terhorst, Head of Strategy and Sustainability at Bayer’s Crop Science division, emphasized the role of digital technologies in creating a regenerative agricultural system. He noted that technology is now a fundamental aspect of agriculture, spanning from seed breeding to crop protection, and is essential in all phases of the farming cycle.
Bayer’s digital centerpiece, FieldView, already serves over 220 million acres globally. It’s acclaimed as the industry’s foremost digital agriculture platform, boasting the largest repository of farmer and field trial seed performance data. The platform, leveraging AI and machine learning, provides extensive data visualization, aiding farmers in making well-informed decisions to optimize yields and efficiency.
In 2024, Bayer plans to introduce FieldView Cab for Android and the FieldView Spray Kit, enhancing data acquisition capabilities and compatibility with diverse farm equipment.
Additionally, Bayer’s “Magic” series of digital devices, such as MagicScout Air and MagicTrap, will be featured. These innovations offer detailed in-field insights, enabling more efficient farming practices and promoting environmental stewardship.
Bayer’s collaboration with Microsoft in developing AgPowered Services and the Azure Data Manager for Agriculture further underscores their commitment to advancing agriculture through technology. This partnership aims to improve data interoperability and foster innovation across the agricultural value chain.
