In a significant announcement from the World Potato Congress Inc. (WPC), Dr. Peter VanderZaag, the organization’s President and Chairman of the WPC Industry Awards Committee, has officially opened the call for nominations for the 2024 World Potato Congress Industry Awards. This esteemed event us set to take place in June at the upcoming World Potato Congress in Australia.
is a highlight in the international potato industry calendar.
The World Potato Congress Industry Award is a prestigious accolade, recognizing individuals who have made a lifetime of significant contributions to the potato industry. Historically, the award ceremony has honored 3-5 exceptional individuals, acknowledging their outstanding achievements and dedication to the field.
Prospective nominators, referred to as Industry Award Proposers, are invited to submit their nominations in writing. Each nomination must include the proposer’s full name, professional status, and contact details, including email and telephone number. It’s important to note that the WPC discourages any form of write-in campaigns in support of nominees, as letters of support will not influence the decision-making process.
The nomination should also detail the nominee’s full name, contact information, a career outline, and a compelling argument, in no more than 250 words, as to why the nominee is a deserving recipient of the Industry Award.
Nominations are to be submitted via email to the Executive Director of the WPC at email@example.com. The Industry Awards Committee will thoroughly review and assess all applications received. They will then recommend potential award recipients to the WPC Board of Directors for final approval.
The deadline for nomination submissions is set for the close of business on March 27, 2024. The WPC eagerly anticipates the nominations and looks forward to announcing the award recipients at the upcoming World Potato Congress in Australia in June 2024. This event promises to be a significant occasion, celebrating the remarkable contributions of individuals to the global potato industry.
