Veg of Lund receives U.S. patent protecting its plant-based potato drink DUG

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has informed Veg of Lund AB that they intend to approve the patent application “vegan potato emulsion,” which defines the company’s unique vegetable milk alternative. This means that the upcoming patent protection will cover the US market.

Veg of Lund’s patent portfolio has been strengthened by the announcement from USPTO concerning the company’s vegan beverage based on a combination of potato, rapeseed oil, and a vegetable protein in the form of an emulsion. The drink is marketed under the brand name DUG® in several European markets.

“We are pleased to note that a patent is also being approved for the American market for our unique vegetable milk alternatives,” says Professor Eva Tornberg, founder and board member of Veg of Lund.

Veg of Lund has corresponding active patent applications in Australia, China, India, Japan, Thailand, South Korea, Hong Kong, and the United Arab Emirates. Patents for the vegetable milk alternative have already been approved in Sweden, Europe, and Canada.
