Lamb Weston Holdings, Inc. issued its fourth annual Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) report yesterday, reporting progress against 2030 ESG goals. The report provides updates on the company’s performance during its fiscal year 2022.
“We’re making investments in people, processes and new ideas to drive progress against our 2030 goals,” said Mike Smith, Chief Operating officer, Lamb Weston. “Our team is focused on making meaningful changes to secure a long-term future.”
The report provides critical updates on metrics in three key areas of focus:
- People: investing in the development and wellbeing of team members and providing for the communities where the company operates.
- Food: offering customers and consumers safe, high quality potato products, made responsibly.
- Planet: reducing environmental impact and conserving natural resources through forward-looking agricultural programs and efficient manufacturing.
“At Lamb Weston we believe it is our responsibility to not only drive financial performance, but also contribute positively to society and the environment,” says President and CEO Tom Werner in a message published in the report.
“We’ve looked critically at our processes and ways of working to truly integrate ESG into our strategy and operations, ensuring critical business decisions are made with our ESG goals in mind. But we know we have a lot more work to do to achieve the ambitious goals we’ve set for ourselves. Our team knows we must accelerate our work in this area to make meaningful progress.”
Werner points out that while this report does not yet reflect the company’s recent European acquisition, “you will see great examples of our work to support our people, make great food, and use our resources effectively.”
Werner says the report provides an update on progress toward the company’s 2030 goals, but it also serves as motivation to its teams to strive for more. “One thing I know for certain is that we are committed to achieving more, together, with an eye toward our long-term future at Lamb Weston.”
