Outlook for US fresh retail sector looks bright with the ‘right products, right audiences, right messages,’ says CMO

John Toaspern, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at Potatoes USA assumed the new position of Chief Marketing Officer at the National Potato Promotion Board in July, 2014. As the Chief Marketing Officer John oversees both the international and domestic marketing programs at Potatoes USA as well as the Industry Outreach programs.

The marketing programs cover frozen, fresh, dehydrated and seed potatoes and are focused at the retail, foodservice, food manufacturing and consumer audiences in the US and international markets.

During the Potato Expo 2019 event earlier this year, Toaspern presented on the fresh retail and frozen outlook for the US potato industry.

In his address, he said that demand for US potatoes is increasing, and so is new potato product launches. The potato is undoubtedly America’s favorite vegetable, he said. And US export markets continue to grow.

Toaspern told delegates the future looks bright for US fresh potatoes “with the right products, the right audiences, and the right messages…”
